UNLV Hosts Free Sousa Concert

Col. John R. Bourgeois ConductorThe National Community Band, a project of the John Philip Sousa Foundation, presents a free concert at 3:30 pm on Sunday, July 11 in the Artemus Ham Concert Hall on the UNLV campus.  Sousa, known as “The March King,” is famed for composing more than 100 marches, including “Stars and Stripes Forever,” several operettas, and hundreds of additional pieces.

The 80-member concert band is comprised of adult amateur musicians from around the U.S. and Canada and is led by Colonel John R. Bourgeois, Director Emeritus of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in Washington D.C.
