President & COO of MGM Grand Hotel & Casino is Featured in Sunday’s Episode of “Undercover Boss”

Posted on 17 March 2011

Scott Sibella, president and chief operating officer of MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, goes undercover to try his hand at front line positions including a dealer and guest service representative on the hit series “Undercover Boss,” Sunday, March 20 (9 – 10 p.m. ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

“This was one of the most important and rewarding things I’ve done in my career,” said Sibella.  “I learned so much about our employees, and the experience will make me a better leader for our team.”

MGM Grand, the AAA Four Diamond resort which provides the “Maximum Vegas” experience, will serve as the backdrop for the episode.  Tune in to see if Sibella succeeds or “craps out” in his endeavors.

Each week the popular Emmy nominated series “Undercover Boss,” now in its second season, follows a different executive as they leave the comfort of their corner office for an undercover mission to examine the inner workings of their companies.  While working alongside their employees they see the effects that their decisions have on others, where the problems lie within their organizations and get an up-close look at both the good and the bad while discovering the unsung heroes who make their companies run.

    Scott,
Great Job on TV tonight. Sorry we’re retired, don’t gamble, smoke or drink,
But we try to help others any chance we get.

    Hey Scott,

I’m a Security Supervisor at Presque Isle Downs and Casino in Erie PA,………I watched you tonight. You have a lot of potential and balls. You lack charisma but you sure made it up with what seemed to me to be a little bit of self evaluation. Anyone with a brain can sense that. You went through the series with a mind set of “Holy Christ, people actually have to bust their ass to make this operation work”. I commend you. I commend the way you realize that the position you’re in has nothing to do with how talented you are, but with luck and destiny itself. You’re going to be a good leader!

Just wanted to say that I’ve been a longtime MGM Grand customer who has over the past year or so cooled off from going for a number of reasons. However, I have to tell you that seeing Scott Sibella on ‘Undercover Boss’, I was totally won back to MGM Grand loyalty. Scott put a face and heart to an organization that makes me think of the hotel back in the 60′s.

I have a trip scheduled for August and a reservation at Caesar’s Palace but after last night’s show, I’m switching to one of the MGM properties. I really want to see Scott succeed and I’m only one person but success starts one customer at a time and I’m on board.

Thank you Mr. Sibella for reminding me how much I really enjoy the MGM Grand experience.

    Ms. Charlie Jackson

I DO NOT WATCH THIS SHOW OR ANY REALITY SHOWS BUT LAST NIGHT I WAS WAITING FOR SOMETHING ELSE & THOUGHT TO JUST WASTE TIME & BOY WAS I SURPRISED TO SEE THESE GREAT PEOPLE–JUST PLAIN FOLKS AND HOW THEY WERE APPRECIATED–KUDOS TO MGM AND SCOTT SIBELLA. I LOVE THE CASINOS & ALTHOUGH A PENNY PLAYER I MISS NOT BEING ABLE TO GO NOW THAT IT WOULD TAKE OVER 2 HOURS TO GET THERE BUT I WILL WATCH “UNDERCOVER BOSS” AGAIN SINCE THEY PROMOTE DECENCY AND NOT TRASH

I just watched the Undercover Boss episode which Mr. Sibella was on…I must say I was very very impressed and very touched. My son lives in Las Vegas so I am there often..He now works on the Strip, but last year I went to celebrate his birthday so I stayed at the Hotle where he worked which was Aliante. On the 1st night his car was stolen, but it was the way we were treated by employes as well as Mgmnt which digusted me!!!I paid full price for the room not once did anyone offer me a ride to the airport not even a kinf word instead they made it seem as we were making things up and we were at fault!!I thank God my son quit and I will never stay there again..I did stay at the MGM long ago and was impressed and now I will make it a point to stay there again!!Great job Scott I wish you the best and may your stay be a very very long one!!

Iwatched the episode last night on Undercover Boss and I was taken back with the compassion and understanding that Mr.Sibella has for not only his employees but for the surrounding community as well, and then to see him tell his family that they too were going to volunteer with the delivering of flowers has made me make a decision that I was struggling with and that is where to stay when I come to Las Vegas in October of this year, and there is no doubt in my mind that the MGM will be the ONE and ONLY place for me in Las Vegas. I am looking forward to my visit and I too will be looking to see if the “Carpet” has changed
