Party for the Planet: Donate Blood Receive Free Admission to Shark Reef

Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay is hosting Party for the Planet™, a free Earth Day festival to be held in connection with the Association of Zoos & Aquariums on Friday, April 22 from 10 am – 4 pm.

The environmental celebration will have informational booth and goodies for all those interested in “going green” and establishing conservation and sustainability habits. Organizations including the Conservation District of Southern Nevada, The Nature Conservancy, Nevada Department of Wildlife and the City of Las Vegas Environmental Division are participating with demonstrations, information and assistance on how individuals can help save our planet.

Activities this year include an eco-scavenger hunt with participating organizations in which winners will receive $5 off one regular admission to Shark Reef Aquarium; opportunities for children to have their photo taken with Sharky the Shark; and Earth Day crafts during event hours (Shark Reef Aquarium admission required for crafts).

Also taking place during Party for the Planet™ is the launch of two special Hard Rock collectable pins featuring a Komodo Dragon and a Green Sea Turtle. The limited-edition, guitar-shaped pins will be on sale as part of a partnership between Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. A percentage of the proceeds will benefit the AZA and Shark Reef Aquarium which will donate its portion to its non-profit partners working on conservation and research for these two magnificent animals.

United Blood Services also will be participating in the event. Guests 17 years of age and older donating blood that day will receive a free admission to Shark Reef Aquarium.

Please drink plenty of water, have a hearty meal prior to donating. All donors must present valid photo ID.
