November’s First Friday Las Vegas

First Friday Las Vegas continues to grow with more artwork, galleries, entertainment and events at the popular outdoor festival, which boasted more than 10,000 attendees upon its return in October. The next First Friday Las Vegas takes place Friday, Nov. 4 and hours will remain extended from 6 p.m. until midnight.

FIRST FRIDAY LAS VEGAS HIGHLIGHTS:

CASINO CENTER HUB Located at Casino Center and Colorado Ave.

Art Style: Emerging artists, arts, crafts

Activities:

5:30 p.m. – Blinking Man Poetry Bike Brigade – bicycle meet up.  1114 S. Casino Center

Ever wanted to ride your bike downtown, in a group setting while listening to live poetry? In partnership with the Vegas Valley Book Festival, Blinking Man and the RTC, riders from across the Valley will gather to ride along during this poetry based outing. A lemming will lead the pack with live poetry for the riders to hear. The group will make stops at different galleries throughout Downtown Las Vegas and hear additional poetry readings at each stop.

During the 5:30 p.m. meet up, the RTC will be on-hand for bike tune ups and to pump tires. Blinking Man and First Friday staff will provide free lights to the first 25 cyclists who bring their bikes down for the ride, but are not equipped with lighting.

6 p.m. – A Kids Zone will feature games and interactive activities throughout the night.

6 p.m. – 8 p.m. A Book Exchange will take place from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and an appearance from Zappos.com CEO and author of Delivering Happiness Tony Hsieh will take place from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Hsieh will be giving away a free, signed copy of Delivering Happiness to the first 100 people.

6 p.m. – The Vegas Valley Book Festival kicks off this year’s program with a Haiku reading.

6:30 p.m. – Blinking Man Poetry Bike Brigade heads out for the ride

7 p.m. – Outdoor Cinema @theatre7

A mix of film, music videos and trailers put together specially for First Friday Las Vegas as the event expands to include 3rd Street from Colorado south to Utah.

Also starting at theatre7 and showcased along 3rd Street, a Classic Car Show, art and food vendors.

Entertainment:

Two stages with live music and DJ performances programmed from 6 p.m. until midnight.

FREMONT STREET EAST Located at Fremont Street and 6th

Art Style: Urban and street art

Activities: Live painting throughout the evening as artists finish the large bus they began painting in October.  Street art fair with food trucks and bar service.

Entertainment:

Main stage with live music and DJ performances programmed from 6 p.m. until midnight.

HOURS OF OPERATION:

6 p.m. until midnight

PARKING/SHUTTLE:

Shuttle service will run from 5:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m.

There will be ample free parking as well as $5 parking lots.*    *If you park in unauthorized parking areas, you may be subject to towing.

FREE PARKING:

The Stratosphere parking garage; shuttle runs to the Casino Center Hub

City Hall Garage (Stewart and Las Vegas Blvd.); shuttle runs to the Casino Center Hub

Clark County Government Center; shuttle loops to the Casino Center Hub as well as Fremont Street East.
