Motocross star Robbie Maddison attempt to land atop Paris’ Arc de Triomphe on his motorcycle at 8pm. The stunt is being broadcast live on ESPN at 8 pm.  Maddison plans to jump more than 120 feet to reach the 97-foot-high structure. If he succeeds, Maddison plans to then do a 50-foot freefall off the Arc to land on a ramp.

Fireworks on the Las Vegas Strip – This year’s Las Vegas Strip fireworks show theme is “Takin’ It to the Streets” and is over 8 minutes long.  The soundtrack, which will be carried on two radio stations (KOMP 92.3 FM and KXPT 97.1 FM), includes “Takin’ it to the Streets” by the Doobie Brothers, the Mick Jagger and David Bowie version of “Dancing in the Street,” and “We Like to Party” by the Venga Boys.  Fireworks will be launched from the Mandalay Bay convention center lot, the Luxor’s parking lot, the parking garages at the MGM Grand, Caesars Palace, the Stratosphere and Treasure Island, and the Gold parking lot at the Las Vegas Convention Center.  250,000 people are expected on the Strip to view the display.  For a map of the best viewing locations, click here (then click on the map to enlarge it).

Free for Locals with NV ID.  $20 for non-locals.  21+ only.  Capacity limited.

America’s Party and TributePalooza Live in Concert at the Fremont Street Experience opens at 6 pm. Guests can access the venue at any of the gates located at Fremont and Casino Center, Fremont and 4th and Fremont and Main. All attendees must be at least 21 years of age. Parking is available at the Fremont Street Experience parking garage on the corner of 4th and Carson and at all Fremont Street hotel-casinos.

The world’s best tribute bands performing 14 combined hours of live concerts on two stages.  The performance schedule is as follows:

The premiere of the KISS Viva Vision Show will take place at 9 pm. . The show features three of the band’s worldwide hits, “Lick It Up,” “Shout It Out Loud” and the rock anthem “Rock ‘n’ Roll All Night,” stylistically showcasing the band’s rich history, iconic make-up and costumes surrounded in a cacophony of fire and pyrotechnic graphics.

The Riders of Thunderdome will also thrill the crowds with their Globe of Death motorcycle show. Guinness World Record Holders Bela Tabak’s Riders of the Thunderdome perform in the Globe of Death, which is fashioned from four tons of steel. The motorcycle daredevil team features four riders who attain speeds in excess of 40 mph while racing inside the 14-foot, 3-inch globe simultaneously.

At midnight there will be digital fireworks on the overhead canopy.

Ellis Island Casino & Brewery will host a FREE casino-wide party on New Year’s Eve offering party favors for everyone, a FREE champagne pour near midnight and a drawing giving away $2,009 in cash prizes at midnight.  Get all of the drawing details from the promotions booth.  On New Year’s Day, the celebration continues with FREE Bloody Mary’s at the casino bars from 8 am until noon.
