Posted on 10 August 2010
America’s Best Idea – the national parks – gets even better this year with several fee-free days at more than 100 national parks that usually charge entrance fees.
Mark your calendar for fee-free days this year:
- August 14-15, 2010
- September 25, 2010
(Public Lands Day) - November 11, 2010
(Veterans Day)
And to make the fun even more affordable, many national park concessionaires are joining the National Park Service in welcoming visitors on this summer’s fee free weekends with the their own special offers.
National Parks that are within 150 miles from Las Vegas include: Death Valley National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Mojave National Preserve, Parashant National Monument and Zion National Park. Note: Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is also participating in these fee free days.
Normally, 146 of 392 national parks charge entrance fees ranging from $3 to $25. The other 246 do not charge for admission. The fee free waiver for National Park Week does not include other fees collected in advance or by contractors—such as fees charged for camping, reservations and use of concessions.
