John Lennon Celebration Weekend

The Lake Las Vegas Destination Marketing Council and The Village at Lake Las Vegas are presenting a John Lennon Celebration Weekend, October 1 & 2, 2010.

This year would have been John Lennon’s 70th birthday. To commemorate this milestone, both Friday and Saturday evenings will be filled with entertainment, including:

The Quarrymen – In 1956, John Lennon recruited five of his closest friends to join him in a skiffle and rock ‘n’ roll group called The Quarrymen. Today, the surviving members of “The Band that Became The Beatles” continue to perform for audiences around the world.

Sneak Preview of “Nowhere Boy” – An upcoming new feature film that depicts the events and personal circumstances that led to the formation of the Beatles—and the underlying family currents that shaped and molded the creative and inspirational qualities of John Lennon.

SCHEDULE

Friday, October 1st: The Fab – from 7–10 PM

Saturday, October 2nd: Sneak Preview of “Nowhere Boy” – starts at 7 PM.  The Quarrymen – performing at 9 PM

The event will be emceed by Robin Leach – who first encountered the early Beatles when he was a young newspaperman in his native England.

All events are on the Village Events Plaza and are FREE to the public.

A small toy donation to the Children’s Heart Foundation would be appreciated.
