fresh52 Farmers Market to host Fall Harvest Festival Oct. 24th

Fall has finally fallen upon Southern Nevada, and fresh52 Farmers & Artisans Market is welcoming the cooler weather with its inaugural Fall Harvest Festival from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 24, 2010.

The festival will feature many of the vendors that sell their organic, pesticide-free produce, food products and handmade goods every Sunday at fresh52 Farmers & Artisans Market, as well as live entertainment and many other exciting exhibits to celebrate the changing of the seasons.

The Festival’s centerpiece attraction will be a pie eating contest, the first ever to be hosted by Yelp, the hugely-popular online search and user-review directory. A total of 15 contestants will sit down to the challenge, sponsored by Sugar’s, a local bakery and fresh52 vendor.

Other attractions will include:

A cooking demonstration with Chef Mayra, a local chef on a mission to show the world that vegan food can be delicious.
A pet costume contest sponsored by The Culinary K9, a regular fresh52 vendor that sells gourmet, all-natural dog biscuits, treats and cookies.
A free Kids Art Patch, sponsored by Handmade In Vegas, a group of local artists and crafters in southern Nevada who sell handmade goods on Etsy.com.
Booth-to-booth trick-or-treating for the kids. Bags will be given away by Easy To Be Green, a fresh52 vendor that recycles fabrics and makes custom recycled grocery bags.
The Slidin’ Thru food truck will be joining in the Festival, serving its highly-acclaimed gourmet sliders.
Games, prize raffles and more!

“I thought this would be a great way to bring the community together to say goodbye to a seemingly-endless endless summer,” said Carrie Hogan, founder of fresh52. “It’s also our way of thanking the community for its overwhelming support of the market these past six months. Despite the long, hot summer, everyone was extremely dedicated and now we expect to grow even bigger with this better weather.”

Launched in last spring, fresh52 Farmers & Artisans Market features dozens of vendors each week who sell organic, pesticide-free seasonal produce, freshly-baked goods, gourmet cooking oils, salsa, spices, sauces, nuts, handmade modern crafts and more.
