Free Show: Nashville Unplugged
Posted on 12 November 2009
If you like country music, then Nashville Unplugged: The Story Behind the Song is made for you. Saturday, November 14th at Green Valley Ranch Casino head to Ovation for a great free show.
Doors at 7:15 pm featuring “Songs from a Hat” and the show starts at 8 pm.
Aptly called Nashville Unplugged, this show is based on the concept of getting to know what’s behind the song, similar to the famed Bluebird Café in Nashville .
Each month features a songwriter who goes through the process of what went into writing a particular song and then performs it at the show.
November’s songwriters are Tim Nichols and Bob Dipiero. Nichols has written many famous songs, like Jo Dee Messina’s “Heads Carolina, Tails California,” Lee Ann Womack’s “I’ll think of a Reason Later,” Trace Adkin’s “(This Ain’t) No Thinkin’ Thing” and Tim McGraw’s “Live Like You Were Dying.” Dipiero has penned country favorites such as Ricochet’s “Daddy’s Money,” Montgomery Gentry’s “She Don’t Tell Me To” and Brooks & Dunn’s “Indian Summer.”
Each month is hosted by singer/songwriters Brian McComas who wrote and sang “99.9% Sure (I’ve Never Been Here Before)” and Aaron Benward of Blue County who wrote and sang “Good Little Girls.” Another fun aspect of Nashville Unplugged is “Songs from a Hat” where guests that arrive between 7:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. can make up a title to a song and place the suggestion in a hat. The songwriters will pick one title from that hat and then pen a song throughout the course of the evening, to be performed at the end.
Must be 21+.
