Ethel Merman’s Broadway!

Posted on 06 January 2008

merman.gif Five of us were treated to a fabulous show at the Suncoast Hotel and Casino Showroom tonight. “ETHEL MERMAN’S BROADWAY,” starring Rita McKenzie, played to a packed house and the crowd was rewarded with a fantastic show.

This award winning Off-Broadway hit is basically a one woman show backed up by a live band. For an hour and a half, we heard the wonderful lyrics and music of Cole Porter, George and Ira Gershwin, Jule Styne and Irving Berlin, all in true Ethel Merman style.

“There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “I Got Rhythm,” and “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” are only a few of the twenty numbers that McKenzie sang taking the audience through one of Broadway’s finest eras.

We were fortunate to learn of the show and call in for free tickets through Show Tickets 4 Locals.
