The 2012 Dam Short Film Festival runs February 9-11, 2012 in downtown Boulder City. Each year the Chinese American Chamber of Commerce organizes the largest Chinese New Year Celebration in Las Vegas. Come celebrate the Year of the Dragon on Sunday, January 29th from 10 am to 5 pm.

Free holiday fun this Saturday, December 3rd:

Join park rangers from 3 to 5 p.m. at Lake Mead’s visitor center in downtown Boulder City during Boulder City’s Santa’s Electric Light Parade for free hot cocoa, S’mores and fun activities for the kids. The park’s bookstore will be offering visitors a 15-percent discount throughout the store. Lake Mead’s downtown Boulder City visitor center is located at 601 Nevada Way, Boulder City, NV 89005. The Annual Santa’s Electric Night Parade takes place at 4:30 p.m.  Parade begins at Bicentennial Park located at Nevada Way and Colorado Street and proceeds down Nevada Way to Fifth Street and then to Avenue B.

After the parade head down to Boulder Beach at Lake Mead to watch the Lake Mead Boat Owners Association’s 35th Annual Christmas Parade of Lights at 7pm. The parade has been presented annually by Lake Mead Boat Owners Association in cooperation with the National Park Service, Las Vegas Boat Harbor /Lake Mead Marina complex and the Silverton Hotel & Casino.  On December 3rd, the day of the parade, the Park Service will waive the park entry fee after 2 pm. The best viewing is from Boulder Beach where horn honking for your favorites is encouraged.

First Friday Las Vegas continues to grow with more artwork, galleries, entertainment and events at the popular outdoor festival, which brings thousands of locals and visitors to Downtown Las Vegas. The next First Friday Las Vegas takes place Friday, Dec. 2 from 6 p.m. until midnight.

FIRST FRIDAY LAS VEGAS HIGHLIGHTS:

CASINO CENTER HUB – Location: Casino Center and Colorado Ave.

Art Style: Emerging artists, arts, crafts

Activities:

6 p.m. – The Kids Zone will feature a visit by Santa Claus from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., as well as games and interactive activities throughout the night.  This area will also house a toy drive for Toys for Tots to help those less fortunate this holiday season. Attendees are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy for donation. Any attendee that donates toys between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. will receive two raffle tickets. The onsite raffle will take place at 9 p.m. where First Friday staff will raffle off five beautiful, fresh Christmas trees to get everyone in the holiday spirit. An additional raffle will be held at the conclusion of Lotus Broadcasting’s Toys for Tots campaign, featuring a spectacular prize.  A Christmas Tree Lot will also be set up where families can purchase their fresh Christmas tree for the holidays.  A gift wrapping station will also be set up compliments of Yelp, helping make holiday shopping at First Friday more fun and convenient.

7 p.m. – Outdoor Cinema @theatre7  (1406 S. 3^rd)- A mix of film, music videos and trailers put together specially for First Friday Las Vegas as the event expands to include 3^rd Street from Colorado south to Utah.

Also starting at theatre7 and showcased along 3^rd Street, a Classic Car Show, art and food vendors.

Friday, November 25th at 5pm, The District presents this year’s Christmas Walk – A Joyful Holiday Celebration! The holiday season officially begins with the lighting of the spectacular Christmas Tree on Main Street, and the arrival of Santa! The Christmas tree will tower more than 50 feet above the center of Main Street, and features 14,400 LED dancing lights that will perform to a variety of Christmas songs every evening. Santa Claus will arrive in grand fashion for the tree lighting spectacular, which will feature live holiday music, strolling characters, and a little Christmas magic from Santa to light the new tree. Following the tree lighting, Santa will be available for photos.  Enjoy the sounds of the season & complimentary horse & carriage rides and more.
