The Regional Transportation Commission has announced free bus service in the Las Vegas Valley starting the evening of New Year’s Eve.

The free rides will run on all RTC buses starting at 6 pm on New Year’s Eve until 9 am on New Year’s Day.

The RTC advises those who use the free service that many transit routes on and around the Las Vegas Strip, including the Deuce double-deck service, will be detoured on New Year’s Eve due to anticipated road closures.  Click here for more information.

The Deuce on the Strip will not operate from as early as 5 pm on New Year’s Eve and will resume service when the Strip reopens.

New Year’s Eve on the Las Vegas Strip means crowds! Packed across the strip like sardines type crowds. While you are enjoying yourself and ringing in the New Year, be sure to keep your wits about you as you navigate the massive crowd.

You may not know this, but the Strip hotels close their doors to those not staying on property, so be sure to have a plan in advance if you have a specific place you want to go. If you park in a hotel parking structure at a property in which you are not staying, you will most likely not be able to enter through the hotel until sometime well after 1am to access the parking garage.

To see the fireworks, you’ll want to be out of the hotel by 11 pm, because the huge crush of revelers will be crowding the elevators and every crevice of the property. Be sure to keep close attention to your purse or wallet – better yet – take only what’s absolutely necessary.

It looks like the only place to see fireworks this New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas is going to be on the Las Vegas Strip.

America’s Party 2012: The Las Vegas Strip closes to traffic around 6pm and fireworks will be launched at midnight from the top of Tropicana, MGM Grand, Planet Hollywood Resort, Caesar’s Palace, Treasure Island, The Venetian, Stratosphere and ARIA.

As a culmination to a full year of planning, Fireworks by Grucci has coordinated an 8 minute, 36 second program consisting of over 56,000 effects that will light up the Las Vegas Strip.  Fireworks and music will be in sync.

The soundtrack accompanying the fireworks will feature the Sal Soul Orchestra, LMFAO, Lady Gaga, Ne-Yo, Afrojack, Nayer, and Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, Adele, and a finale from ZZ Top’s version of “Viva Las Vegas”.  You can catch the music live on local FM stations KOMP 92.3 and KXPT 97.1.  Both radio stations can be streamed live online.

America’s Party has become one of the most anticipated events of the year, and this year the display is aptly themed as “Dance: Las Vegas.”

Steel Panther is a glam metal band from Los Angeles, Calif. and are known for their profane and humorous lyrics as well as their exaggerated on-stage personas. Formed in 2000, the band was also known as Danger Kitty, Metal Shop and Metal Skool. Steel Panther succeeded in becoming one of the most popular tribute band in Calif., even winning a contest of “Best Tribute Band in the Universe.” Thanks to the increased popularity, their live shows began to be attended by a growing number of fans. Many celebrities have also appeared on stage during their concerts, including Dane Cook, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Tom Morello, Scott Ian, Tony Romo, Paul Stanley and many more.

Rock Sugar is a Los Angeles based band known for their mash-ups of pop music and hair metal from the 1980s. The band claims that the sound was achieved when the metal band was stranded on a desert island in 1989 with a CD player, plenty of batteries and the CD collection of a 13 year-old girl. Their mission is to mash-up just about every band of the eighties and nineties into one big mega-mix of classic rock goodness. If you like Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” and Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” they have them together in one song, “Don’t Stop the Sandman.” How about Queen with Motely Crue in “We Will Kick Start your Rhapsody.”

Wanted is an incredible replication of the music of Bon Jovi that was created with one purpose in mind, to have a fun concert environment. The band is based in Los Angeles and is comprised of professional musicians who embody the style, vibe and atmosphere of a live Bon Jovi show that plays to rave reviews and sold out venues.

L.A.vation is a Los Angeles, Calif. based U2 Tribute band that accurately executes the music and look of a U2 concert. L.A. Vation derives its name from the song “Elevation,” the third single released from U2 2000 album, All That You Can’t Leave Behind.

During Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite,” the sky will flash with golden willow comets, accented by yellow, red and orange shells, followed by volleys of red peonies with white pistils, silver crackling palm trees and red and gold strobing aerials during Katy Perry’s “Waking Up in Vegas.”  Effects such as green jetting comets, sparkling willow mines, red strobing rain shells, silver popping flowers, purple and yellow strobing comets will be used throughout. M Resort Spa Casino is inviting guests young and old to enjoy the Forbes Four-Star resort their way on Friday, Dec. 31 with a celebration to suit every taste and all price points. With no cover charges or pre-fixe menus, guests are free to dine at their leisure, dance the night away or enjoy the thrill of red-hot gaming action and a champagne toast at midnight.

The M Resort will offer complimentary party favors and cake and champagne stations throughout the property’s 92,000 square foot casino and live entertainment in its Lobby Bar, entertainment lounge, Ravello, where the standard two drink minimum will apply, and popular wine bar, Hostile Grape, which features more than 160 wines by the glass. America’s Party: A Vegas Celebration- fireworks will be launched at midnight from the top of MGM Grand, Planet Hollywood Resort, Caesar’s Palace, Treasure Island, The Venetian, Stratosphere and Aria at CityCenter.

As a culmination to a full year of planning, Fireworks by Grucci has coordinated a 7 minute, 11 second program that will light up the Las Vegas Strip.  Special effects, such as the letters ‘L’ and ‘V’, will open the performance as a tribute to Las Vegas.

Montelago Village Resort in Henderson will display fireworks over Lake Las Vegas at midnight to ring in the New Year.
