The WSOP has teamed with its official charities, the Prevent Cancer Foundation and the Nevada Cancer Institute, to offer the “First Annual Bad Beat Seminar Series” featuring some of the greatest minds in the game sharing their personal insights, instruction and stories in hour-long sessions prior to the day’s WSOP play.

All speakers are donating their time for these events. The hope is attendees will either consider a $20 donation to the Bad Beat on Cancer, or agree to pledge 1% of their WSOP tournament winnings to benefit Bad Beat on Cancer, with 100% of their donations being tax-deductible.

The first bracelet event is May 31st.  Spectators are free and welcome to observe all the action. (21 years of age and older).

With a larger tournament grand prize package than ever before, 64 of the world’s most elite poker players will go “all in” at the seventh annual National Heads-Up Poker Championship presented by GoDaddy.com on March 3-6 at the Caesars Palace Poker Tournament Room. Heads-Up brings a who’s who of the poker world to compete in its distinctive, bracket-style head-to-head format for $1.8 million in combined prize money. Among the players, Annie Duke returns to the tables to defend her 2010 tournament title and her chance at the $750,000 first-place grand prize. The tournament will be taped for broadcast on NBC over six consecutive Sundays in April and May.  The single-elimination competition begins Friday, March 4 at noon and continues through Sunday, March 6, when a two-out-of-three championship match will determine the winner. The viewing gallery is open to guests on a first-come, first-served basis.

Scheduled to appear in this year’s event are several of the world’s top poker pros, including: Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Rousso, Phil Ivey, Andy Bloch, Darvin Moon, Doyle Brunson, Chris Ferguson, Huck Seed, Daniel Negreanu, along with 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel and 2010 Heads-Up finalist Paul Wasicka, who Duke staged a dramatic come-from-behind victory against in the third round at last year’s tournament.

“Year after year, I look forward to competing among the toughest competition out there that the Heads-Up tournament brings together for fans to see nationwide,” said last year’s Heads-Up champion Annie Duke. “I am excited to compete against the skill and mental toughness that my fellow poker players will showcase on the tables.”

The National Heads-Up Poker Championship features 64 top poker players competing in a series of heads-up, one-on-one matches of No Limit Texas Hold’em to determine the best heads-up poker player in the world.  This tournament has a unique, single-elimination, bracket-style format modeled after college basketball’s championship tournament, except that the finals are the best of three.

The first round opponents for the brackets will be chosen at random during the tournament’s Draw Party held at PURE Nightclub at Caesars Palace on Thursday, March 3.

Spectators are welcome to watch the final table of this year’s World Series of Poker in the Penn & Teller Theater at the Rio on Saturday, November 6 at 12 noon – play begins for the final 9 players and continues until there are 2 players remaining.  Seating is free an open to the public.  (I expect the line for tickets will be pretty long and people will start lining up hours earlier.   If the theater fills up, people still waiting in line will get to enter as others in attendance leave.)

The Final two will return to battle it out on Monday, November 8th at 8 pm.  Prior to the begin of play, the 2010 Hall of Fame Induction will take place at 7:30pm.

Here’s the recently announced schedule for the 2010 World Series of Poker. This popular poker tournament is set to run May 27 through July 17, 2010 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The Main Event begins July 5th.  This year, participants will be competing for 57 WSOP gold bracelets.  Spectators are free and welcome to observe all the action.

The Gaming Lifestyle Expo, the world’s largest poker show, will return bigger and better under a new brand and format. The inaugural “PokerPalooza” will provide the same access to poker and lifestyle exhibitors, but expand the focus on fun, social, and interactive elements.

PokerPalooza attractions will be divided into a number of grouped categories, designed to appeal to everyone from the touring professional to those who have not yet taken up the game. “It’s going to be part trade show, part carnival, all fun” said Ty Stewart, the WSOP’s Director of Marketing.

Multiple WSOP champions are expected to be on hand signing autographs. There will be an expanded food court and signature “Bad Beat Bar” to swap stories after being eliminated from poker’s biggest event. PokerPalooza will take place in the Rio Pavilion, directly adjacent to the WSOP playing area.  Admission is free.
