Nashville Unplugged: The Story Behind the Song continues at Green Valley Ranch this Friday.  A fun and unique experience akin to Nashville’s Bluebird Café, Nashville Unplugged gives guests an intimate look at the thought process behind some of country music’s most well-known songs

Artist Info: With a song catalog full of multi-platinum certified songs, including Nick Lachey’s “What’s Left of Me” and the Backstreet Boys’ “Incomplete,” Jess Cates has established himself as one of the music industry’s most accomplished and sought after songwriters. Cates’ hits include LeAnn Rimes’ “Strong” and Martina McBride’s “I Just Call You Mine,” which peaked at number 18 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. In 2008, Cates co-wrote David Archuleta’s debut single, “Crush,” which reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The show is hosted by singer/songwriters Brian McComas who wrote and sang “99.9% Sure (I’ve Never Been Here Before)” and Aaron Benward of Blue County who wrote and sang “Good Little Girls.”

Guest songwriters Regie Hamm and Brian White.

With more than 20 number one hits to his name, Regie Hamm is one of the music industry’s most successful song writers. In 2008, Hamm penned the song, “Time Of My Life,” which became the finale song and first single for “American Idol” winner, David Cook. The single received platinum certification and stayed at number one on the Adult Contemporary charts for four months. Hamm has received several songwriting awards and has written for a long list of artists, including Clay Aiken and Lonestar. Hamm’s debut album, Set It on Fire, was released in 2010.

After a brief career in ministry, Brian White broke onto the Christian music scene, writing songs for artists including, Point of Grace, Brian Littrell and Cliff Richard, among others. After recording five albums with his own band, Brian White and Justice, White expanded his songwriting to country music. To date, White has written for several of country music’s top stars, including Trace Adkins, Neal McCoy, Earl Scruggs and Charley Pride. White has 13 number one songs to his name, including Rodney Atkins’ “Watching You,” which became the “Most played country song of 2007” and received a “Song of the Year” nomination at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2008.

It looks like the only place to see fireworks this New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas is going to be on the Las Vegas Strip.

America’s Party 2012: The Las Vegas Strip closes to traffic around 6pm and fireworks will be launched at midnight from the top of Tropicana, MGM Grand, Planet Hollywood Resort, Caesar’s Palace, Treasure Island, The Venetian, Stratosphere and ARIA.

As a culmination to a full year of planning, Fireworks by Grucci has coordinated an 8 minute, 36 second program consisting of over 56,000 effects that will light up the Las Vegas Strip.  Fireworks and music will be in sync.

The soundtrack accompanying the fireworks will feature the Sal Soul Orchestra, LMFAO, Lady Gaga, Ne-Yo, Afrojack, Nayer, and Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, Adele, and a finale from ZZ Top’s version of “Viva Las Vegas”.  You can catch the music live on local FM stations KOMP 92.3 and KXPT 97.1.  Both radio stations can be streamed live online.

Steel Panther is a glam metal band from Los Angeles, Calif. and are known for their profane and humorous lyrics as well as their exaggerated on-stage personas. Formed in 2000, the band was also known as Danger Kitty, Metal Shop and Metal Skool. Steel Panther succeeded in becoming one of the most popular tribute band in Calif., even winning a contest of “Best Tribute Band in the Universe.” Thanks to the increased popularity, their live shows began to be attended by a growing number of fans. Many celebrities have also appeared on stage during their concerts, including Dane Cook, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Tom Morello, Scott Ian, Tony Romo, Paul Stanley and many more.

Rock Sugar is a Los Angeles based band known for their mash-ups of pop music and hair metal from the 1980s. The band claims that the sound was achieved when the metal band was stranded on a desert island in 1989 with a CD player, plenty of batteries and the CD collection of a 13 year-old girl. Their mission is to mash-up just about every band of the eighties and nineties into one big mega-mix of classic rock goodness. If you like Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” and Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” they have them together in one song, “Don’t Stop the Sandman.” How about Queen with Motely Crue in “We Will Kick Start your Rhapsody.”

Wanted is an incredible replication of the music of Bon Jovi that was created with one purpose in mind, to have a fun concert environment. The band is based in Los Angeles and is comprised of professional musicians who embody the style, vibe and atmosphere of a live Bon Jovi show that plays to rave reviews and sold out venues.

L.A.vation is a Los Angeles, Calif. based U2 Tribute band that accurately executes the music and look of a U2 concert. L.A. Vation derives its name from the song “Elevation,” the third single released from U2 2000 album, All That You Can’t Leave Behind.

Fan Halen brings back the party-time, hard-rocking music of classic Van Halen with a true-to-life tribute to not only the band but the spirit of the era. Fan Halen sets the stage for a night with Dave, Eddie, Alex and Michael in a transformation that has been described as amazingly authentic.

Blasphemous Rumours is an internationally known tribute band that brings their powerful note-for-note renditions of Depeche Mode’s hits to each and every performance. Based in Los Angeles, Blasphemous Rumours was selected as the headline entertainment for the International Depeche Mode Convention in June of 2007. The band’s uncanny resemblance in look and vocals to the real members of Depeche Mode combined with a full dance performance and light show makes Blasphemous Rumours an incredible, high-energy tribute show that is not to be missed.

No-Duh mixes the experience and energy of a live No Doubt and Gwen Stefani concert with nostalgic visuals, styling’s and props of the original band, complete with costume changes for a complete high-energy, audio-visual experience.

INXSIVE is fronted by Australian native Brett Creswell, who gives the audience an authentic, live interpretation of one of the best loved front men of the 80′s, Michael Hutchence. The Village Lake Las Vegas spreads joy this holiday season with fun and festive events.  The Village will also be collecting toys throughout the holiday season which will be donated to Help of Southern Nevada.

• 1 – 4 p.m. – Strolling carolers from the Sin City Opera

Toy donations will be accepted daily at Casino MonteLago. Bring an unwrapped toy or gift card to the designated drop off areas to support Help of Southern Nevada.

*The Ice Rink season runs from Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 until Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012.

COST: Enjoyment of the holiday entertainment is free and open to the public of all ages. Ice Skating is $15 per adult and $12 per child.
