A fun and unique experience akin to Nashville’s Bluebird Café, Nashville Unplugged gives guests an intimate look at the thought process behind some of country music’s most well-known songs

Featuring country music’s most successful songwriters and the crowd favorite, “Songs from a hat,” where an original song is written on-the-spot, based on audience suggestions, Nashville Unplugged: The Story Behind the Song is hosted by Brian McComas, who wrote and sang “I Could Never Love You Enough,” and Aaron Benward of Blue County, who wrote and sang “That’s Cool.” All performances begin at 8 p.m. and there is a $5 cover at the door. Guests must be 21 years or older.

Upcoming Nashville Unplugged performances include:

Friday, May 25, 8pm – Ovation at Green Valley Ranch – Featuring Greg Barnhill and Joanna Cotten

Saturday, May 26, 8pm – Access Showroom at Aliante Station – Featuring Greg Barnhill and Joanna Cotten

Doors at 7:15 pm featuring “Songs from a Hat.” Guests that arrive between 7:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. can make up a title to a song and place the suggestion in a hat. The songwriters will pick one title from that hat and then pen a song throughout the course of the evening, to be performed at the end.

Artist Info:

An award-winning songwriter, Greg Barnhill has been writing and performing his whole life. Barnhill has written songs for artists ranging from Tim McGraw to Jessica Simpson. Barnhill’s song, “Walkaway Joe,” recorded by Trisha Yearwood and Don Henley, earned him a Grammy nomination and established him as one of the industry’s top writers. His success continued with the single, “House of Love,” which was recorded by Amy Grant and Vince Gill and climbed to number 37 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Other hit songs include, “99.9% Sure I’ve Never Been Here Before,” “Same Ol’ Love,” which reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart, and “She’s Taken A Shine,” which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart. Barnhill has also established himself as one of television’s top theme song and jingle writers, with Emmy nominations for his work on ‘The Today Show” and with NASCAR.

Joanna Cotten’s debut single, “The Prize,” received critical acclaim and peaked at number 60 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Performing in a style Cotten likes to call “funkabilly,” Cotten has released two albums, Funkabilly and Joanna Cotten. Cotten’s singles, “If I’m Gonna Be Bad” and “Tell Me That I Got To” will both be featured on ABC’s television series, “GCB.”

After two overwhelmingly successful years at Green Valley Ranch, Nashville Unplugged: The Story Behind the Song is expanding across the Las Vegas valley, with additional Saturday performances. Nashville Unplugged will follow their bi-weekly Green Valley Ranch performances on Friday nights with gigs the following evening inside Chrome Showroom at Santa Fe Station.

“The overwhelming popularity of Nashville Unplugged has solidified the show as a fixture in the city and we’re thrilled to bring it to the northwest side of the valley,” said Station Casinos’ Vice President of Entertainment Judy Alberti. “These are some of the world’s most talented musicians, and joining forces with Revolver Saloon and Dance Hall, further establishes Santa Fe Station as the city’s best option for those looking to enjoy country music.”

Upcoming Nashville Unplugged performances include:

Friday, Nov 4 – Ovation at Green Valley Ranch – Featuring guest songwriters Walt Aldridge and Vince Melamed

Saturday, Nov 5 – Chrome Showroom at Santa Fe Station – Featuring guest songwriters Walt Aldridge and Vince Melamed

Throughout his long and successful career, Walt Aldridge has written hit songs for a long list of artists, including Tim McGraw, Lou Reed, Alabama, Peter Cetera, Reba McEntire and Bill Haley, among others. Aldridge reached number one on the Billboard Country Songs chart with Ronnie Milsap’s “(There’s) No Getting’ Over Me,” “Holding Her and Loving You,” by Earl Thomas Conley and Heartland’s “I Loved Her First.” One of country music’s most sought-after songwriters, Aldridge has been named to Billboard Magazine’s Top Ten Country Songwriters of the year twice and was awarded with a star on the Alabama Music Hall of Fame’s Walk of Fame.

A New York native, Vince Melamed has not only played keyboards for many artists, including Bob Dylan, the Eagles and Jimmy Buffet, but has built a successful songwriting career. Melamed’s songwriting credits include, Trisha Yearwood’s “Walkaway Joe,” Restless Heart’s “Tell Me What You Dream,” Phil Vassar’s “I’ll Take That as a Yes (The Hot Tub Song,” “Boy Howdy’s “She’d Give Anything” and Ty Herndon’s “What Mattered Most,” which climbed to number one on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart. Melamed is a six-time recipient of the Broadcast Music Incorporated Million Air Award and received a “Songwriter of the Year” nomination in the 1996 Nashville Music Awards.

A relative newcomer to the country music industry, Eric Paslay’s debut single, “Never Really Wanted” climbed to number 50 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 2011. In addition to co-writing Jake Owen’s number one single, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” Paslay has written singles for artists including, Lady Antebellum and Ely Young Band.
