The City of Henderson Department of Cultural Art and Tourism is sponsoring the Fern Adair Conservatory of the Arts summer production of Willie Wonka Jr. performed by their Summer Theatre Workshop. Performances will be at the
Henderson Events Plaza, July 31 – August 1, 2010 at 8pm.

Roald Dahl’s timeless story of the world famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this stage adaptation of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, which features the songs from the classic family film “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” The memorable score features “The Candy Man”, “Pure Imagination”, “Oompa Loompa” and ”I Want it Now” by Academy® and Grammy® award winners Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, neatly fitted into a new script adapted under the auspices of the Dahl Estate. With a flexible cast size, featuring roles for children and a tour-de-force role in the title character.

Free Concerts: Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band

Fremont Street Experience continues to present “Summer of the ’70s” by welcoming Wild Heart, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band performing free concerts through July 31st. With chart-toppers like “Don’t Stop,” “Go Your Own Way,” and “You Make Lovin’ Fun” Fleetwood Mac is one of the most successful and beloved bands of the `70s. Wild Heart will perform three sets nightly, each starting after the top-of-the-hour Viva Vision shows at 9, 10 and 11 pm.

Wild Heart is a six-member group from Las Vegas. Forming over nine years ago, the band alternates among three different lead singers to replicate the voices of Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, and Christine McVie. Members of the band are no newcomers to the music industry with individual accomplishments including opening for Cheap Trick and Joan Jett and touring with Chuck Berry and Chubby Checker.

The music and culture from the decade of the 1970s is being featured in downtown Las Vegas this summer as Fremont Street Experience presents the “Summer of the ’70s” festival and free concert series. The 102-day promotion kicked off Memorial Day Weekend and runs through Labor Day Weekend. Thursday Farmer’s Market

My personal favorite farmers market in Las Vegas is Molto Vegas Farmers Market. Molto Vegas features fresh products from locally grown sources and is open for business every Thursday with an industry preview starting at 10am and then the doors open to the public from 11am-1pm. Here you can find fruits, vegetables and herbs as well as smoked goat cheese, agretti, pistachios, local roasted coffee and dates. It’s indoors in a warehouse, so you can avoid some of the heat.
